Two Courses Offered This Fall

One in data science and one in Great Books

I am offering two courses this fall, assuming that enough students sign up for them. To be honest, I am doubtful that enough students will. My core audience of high school and college students is very busy during the fall! But, if students, of any age, want to learn, I am here to teach. This is my attempt (syllabus) at the first semester of a philosophy/Great Books course sequence (background). Course is 8:00 to 9:00 PM ET on Mondays and Thursdays, starting on September 9. The course will last for 11 weeks and require about 8 hours of work each week outside of class. Zoom information session this Thursday September 5th at 8:00 PM ET (link). Questions? Ask them below.

Kane’s Data Science Bootcamp

This is my usual course. We will meet 3:30 to 4:30 PM ET on Mondays and Thursdays, starting on September 16. However, some of the students who expressed interest wanted a version which required just 4 hours of homework per week, as opposed to the usual 8. I can accommodate this by only teaching about how to work with data, cutting out all the material having to do with statistics. The registration form seeks student feedback on this choice. Once I get a sense of student interest, I may schedule an information session for next week. If you want to get an email about that, you should register.
