In order to register for the course, you must complete the following steps. (Read them all before you begin.)
Read and follow the instructions in “Getting Started with Positron.” We use R and Positron for our work, so you need to ensure that your computer is set up correctly. Note that we also require you to use Zoom and to have a working camera/microphone so that you can share your screen and talk with your classmates.
Complete the “Tutorials in Positron” tutorial from the tutorial.helpers package. The details about how to do this are included in the “Getting Started with Positron” chapter.
The last step of the tutorial led you to download your answers as a file named “positron_answers.html.” Fill out this Google form and submit your answers. Make sure that the email you provide is accurate. Submission of this form is the last step in the registration process. Once you have submitted, you are officially registered.
Notes:
First come, first served! The best way to guarantee your spot in the course is to register now.
If we are over-subscribed, students who advertised the course get priority. But that priority only lasts to Monday at midnight. (The official time zone of the course is EST. Adjust deadlines to your local time as necessary.) After that, all applicants are treated the same.
On Tuesday, I will publish a list of all students who have successfully registered. I will update that list going forward. In general, however, students worry too much about whether or not their answers “went through.” Our process works. As long as you submit the tutorial answers, you will be fine.
Questions? Don’t email me! Put your question as a comment to this post. I (and other teaching staff) will answer it there, so everyone can benefit from the Q&A.)
