Registration is Closed

Welcome email just sent to those students who successful registered

Registration for the Summer 2025 version of Kane’s Data Science Bootcamp is now closed. Welcome to the 122 (!) students who successfully registered. Some notes:

If you did not receive an email and think you should have, you should first check your spam filters. If there is nothing there, then you probably failed to submit the assignment correctly. (The most common mistake is failing to follow the instructions by not providing answers to the name/email/minutes questions. See the first comment below for details.)

In the welcome email I forgot to mention that homework is submitted to the same Google form as the `positron_answers.html` file was.

Below is the welcome email, with the Discord link removed. I include it just because some people who are considering the class for next year are curious.

If you failed to register correctly and/or still want to take the course and/or have some excuse, then your best bet is to complete the registration correctly and the assigned homework for the first class, and then submit it just as if you are in the class right now. We will consider appeals from such students by the end of the week.

If you are receiving this email, you have successfully registered for Kane's Data Science Bootcamp. Welcome!

1) Please join us on Discord: [REMOVED]

2) If you have questions, ask them on Discord. Using this email address to communicate with us (me and our TF leaders Navya and Aadhira) won't usually work. Future communications mostly happen over Discord.

3) To continue in the course, you must complete the homework assignments before the course meetings. This is the biggest difference between this course and others you may have taken. We enforce this policy by only sending the Zoom link for the next class session to those who have submitted the assigned homework.

4) For the first class on Monday, there are three assignments:

• Read the Introduction from R for Data Science (2e).

• From the r4ds.tutorials package, complete the “Introduction” (00-introduction) tutorial.

• From the positron.tutorials package, complete the “Positron and Code” (01-code) tutorial. Make sure that you have already completed the “Introduction” tutorial above before you start the “Positron and Code” tutorial.

You should probably get the latest versions of these packages by running this command at the Console:

> install.packages(c("r4ds.tutorials", "positron.tutorials"))

5) We will also distribute a (brief) survey which you must complete.
